Arsenal continues strong showing in State Cup

State cup
U17 Arsenal Girls Gold team, coached by Tony Minatta, won the State Cup Championship by dominating its competition! In their third State Cup Final, the U17 girls won the state championship by beating Pride Predators 2-0 in the finals. In total, the team scored 31 goals while only giving up three against in the six games of pool play and the championship rounds. The girls had an outstanding run and look forward to representing Colorado at the Far West Regionals in Phoenix, Arizona in June. The State Cup final MVP was Lauren Roeling for her outstanding play in the midfield.
The U18 Arsenal Girls Gold team, coached by Luis Dominguez Jr, continued their strong play by beating Nike Rush Platinum 3 to 1 in the U18 Girls quarterfinal match. The 18s got goals from a consistent trio of players as Lindsey Guice, Dianna Potterveld and Alyssa Spomer all netted one for team. This puts them into the semifinal for the third time, against Pride Predators. The team has a lot of time to prepare for their next match on October 16th at 2pm at Aurora Sports Park.
The U16 Arsenal Girls Gold, coached by Tracy Tate and U15 Arsenal Girls Gold team, coached by Dave Shaffer, had their State Cup runs end this past Sunday. The U16 Girls lost in the quarterfinal to Colorado United White. The girls played well throughout the game, but could not put on in the back of the net and eventually gave up a goal in the second half. Pushing to equalize, the team gave up two more goals in the closing minutes of the game and were unable to overcome the deficit. The U15 Girls Gold team lost in their semifinal match to Westminster Samba, 0-2. The U15 girls played an outstanding first half, but could not find the back of the net and gave up goal in the final minutes of the first half. The team responded well in the second half but was unable to score and went down 0-2. The two goals proved to be too much to overcome for the 15s and they lost by two goals. Both teams represented themselves and the club very well throughout the tournament, both dominating their pool play opponents.
Presidents Cup
The U15 Arsenal Girls Royal team, coached by Jeff Benjamin, won their quarterfinal match 4-1 against Colorado Storm White. The girls struck early and often against Storm White look to match that intensity in the semifinal. They move on to the semifinal against Boulder Force Buffs 2 on Sunday October 16th at 12pm at Aurora Sports Park.
The U16 Arsenal Girls Royal team, coached by David McKelfresh, won their quarterfinal match 2-1 in an exciting final 10 minutes against the Riverside Renegades. A player from the 16s was sent off early in the first half, forcing the team to play down a player for the remainder of the game. The girls fought hard throughout the game to overcome the set back and were able to score two goals in the last 10 minutes to come away victorious. They will take on Real Colorado Red in the semifinal on October 16th at 12pm at Aurora Sports Park.
The U17 Arsenal Girls Royal team, coached by Adam Bauer, continued to impress by beating Real Colorado Red 3-0 in the semifinal. The 17s jumped out to an early lead against Real and held Real scoreless for the shutout. They are the first Arsenal team to get to the Presidents Cup final and look to continue their winning ways against Castle Rock Storm. They will play in the final on October 16th at Aurora Sports Park at 2pm.
The U13 Arsenal Girls Royal team, coached by Jim Hayes, fell to Colorado Rush Swoosh 1-6 in their quarterfinal match. Swoosh jumped out to an early lead and the girls couldn’t recover. The 13s put pressure on the Swoosh goal, but couldn’t find the back of the net and Swoosh took advantage of their opportunities.

State Cup
The U17 Arsenal Girls Gold team, coached by Tony Minatta, advanced to their second consecutive State Cup final by beating Boulder Force 8 to 1 in the semifinals. The team is giving a complete team effort and is committed to their goal of winning the State Championship. This is also the third State Cup Finals appearance for this team since U12. They will play the Pride Predators from Colorado Springs at 1pm at Aurora Sports Park.
The U15 Arsenal Girls Gold team, coached by Dave Shaffer, won their pool this past weekend with a 3 to 1 victory over Boulder Force. The 15s went undefeated through pool play and have advanced to their second consecutive semifinal appearance. They will take on Westminster Samba on Sunday at 10am at Aurora Sports Park.
The U16 Arsenal Girls Gold Team, coached by Tracy Tate, took first in their pool after a 2-2 draw against Boulder Force. The 16s were undefeated through their first 3 games and needed to tie or win to secure the first seed in the flight and now advance to their second consecutive quarterfinal. They will play against Colorado United White at 10am this Sunday at Aurora Sports Park.
The U18 Arsenal Girls Gold team, coached by Luis Dominguez Jr, took first in their pool with a win against Westminster Samba 3 to 1. The 18s went 4-0 through pool play and have now advanced to their 7th consecutive quarterfinal. They will play Colorado Rush Nike Platinum this Sunday at 1pm at Aurora Sports Park.
The U14 Arsenal Girls Gold team, coached by Jayme Beamer, finished strong by defeating Westminster Cosmos 1 to 0 in their last pool play game. The 14s did not advance this year, but are working hard to improve for next years run.
Presidents Cup
The U13 Arsenal Girls Royal team, coached by Jim Hayes, were awaiting their fate as the last round of pool play games were completed this weekend. The team did capture a wild card to advance to the quarterfinals in a game with Colorado United White this Sunday at Aurora Sports Park.
The U15 Arsenal Girls Royal team, coached by Jeff Benjamin, won their pool with an undefeated 4-0 record through pool play after defeating Castle Rock Storm Sunday 3 to 0. They advance as the top seed in their group and will play Colorado Storm White at 2:30pm at Aurora Sports Park this Sunday.
The U16 Arsenal Girls Royal team, coached by David Mkelfresh, took second in their pool with a 3-1 record to advance to the quarterfinals. The team will compete against the Riverside Renegades at 3pm at Aurora Sports Park this Sunday.
The U17 Arsenal Girls Royal team, coached by Adam Bauer, finished first in their pool with a 4-0 record. They advance to the semifinals against Real Colorado Red on Sunday at Aurora Sports Park.

Colorado State Cup
Arsenal Colorado’s girls’ teams continued their strong play in State Cup this past weekend. The U15 Arsenal Girls Gold team locked up a spot in the semifinals with one pool game remaining by beating Colorado Edge Select 5 to 2. All the 15s need is one goal to secure the top seed in their pool and decide their semifinal opponent. The U16 Arsenal Girls Gold team secured a spot in the quarterfinals with a 4 to 2 win over Broomfield Blast in their third pool play game. Arsenal will take on Boulder Force next Sunday to decide the flight winner and see who advances as the top seed in their group. The U18 Arsenal Girls Gold team also secured a spot in the quarterfinals with one pool play game remaining by defeating Broomfield Blast 10 to 1. They also have a match to decide the top seed in the group next Sunday when they take on Westminster Samba. The U14 Arsenal Girls Gold were eliminated from advancing in a tough loss to Real Olympico this past Sunday. We wish all of these teams the best of luck in their final pool play matches this Sunday September 18 at Aurora Sports Park.
The U17 Arsenal Girls Gold team advanced to their 5th consecutive state cup semifinal by defeating Broomfield Blast 4 to 0 this past Sunday. The girls will take on Boulder Force in the semis on Sunday September 18 at 12pm at Aurora Sports Park on Field 22.
Presidents Cup
Arsenal Colorado teams also continued their strong play in Presidents Cup this past weekend with three teams advancing to the championship rounds. The U15 Arsenal Girls Royal team remained undefeated and secured a place in the quarterfinals. They will take on Castle Rock Storm next Sunday to decide the top seed in the pool. The U16 Arsenal Girls Royal team currently sits atop their group having played all four of their games. They await the outcome of the other pool play games to find out who their quarterfinal opponent will be as they are also assured of advancing. The U17 Arsenal Girls Royal team advanced to the semifinals after going undefeated in their group with 19 goals for and three goals against. The championship rounds for these teams begin on September 25 at Aurora Sports Park
The U12 Arsenal Boys Royal team lost a tough game in the semifinals against Broomfield Blast. Congratulations on advancing to that game and good luck with the rest of the fall season. The U13 Arsenal Girls Royal team are still waiting out the rest of the pool play games to see if they are able to advance to the quarterfinals September 25.

Several Arsenal Colorado teams competed in State Cup and President's Cup tournaments this past weekend and had a strong showing. In the State Cup tournament this weekend, Arsenal had 5 girls teams competing. The U15 Girls Gold team won both of their games 5-1 and 4-0 and are in 1st place with one more pool play game to play. The U16 Girls Gold team also won both of their games, winning 6-2 and 4-2. The U17 Girls Gold team dominated their games 6-0, 6-2 and 5-0. And the U18 Girls Gold team had a strong start, winning their games 8-0 and 8-1. The U14 Girls Gold team struggled on the first competition but looks to bounce back in their next two games.
Arsenal also had a strong showing at the President's Cup this past weekend. The U12 Boys Royal team went 1-2 in pool play, defeating Colorado Rush Swoosh 1-0. The U13 Girls Royal team also went 1-2 in pool play, defeating Colorado Storm Blue 4-1. The U14 Girls Royal team finished the weekend with a 1-2 record, defeating Pikes Peak Rush Nike 2-1. The U15 Girls Royal won all of their games, going 3-0 on the weekend and the U15 Girls Blue team lost both of their games. The U16 Girls Royal team also had a strong showing, completing the weekend with a record of 2-1. In the U17 division, the U17 Girls Royal team rolled over the competition, winning three games by a combined score of 21-2.
