U18 Girls Gold:
The 3:30 game featured a rematch of last year’s State final, the defending champs U18 Arsenal Colorado Gold team against Pride Predators. The game began with Arsenal taking it to the Pride team and eventually scoring their first goal about 15 minutes into the game off of a laser from Taylor Nelson, placing the ball in the far post side netting. Kasey Dietrich scored the Arsenal’s 2nd goal of the game with a great diagonal run. Katy Couperous extended the lead to 3-0 with an unbelievable rocket from 45 yards out on a direct free kick. Arsenal went into half with a 3-0 lead. The 2nd half began much the same way the game started with Arsenal having the majority of the play. Katy Couperous finished off the scoring for Arsenal with a well struck ball in the run of play to give Arsenal a 4-0 lead. Pride didn’t quit as they scored their first goal in the run of play and then scored their 2nd goal off of a penalty kick, but that was as close as they would come as the final whistle ended the match 4-2. Arsenal successfully defended their Championship and ended up with back to back state titles, 2012 & 2013! Koree Willer was named the Arsenal MVP of the final.
